Tabs & split panes
Keep many locations open at once, each tab with its own history, sorting and view. Horizontal or vertical splits and three- or four-pane layouts put source and destination side by side.
Tabs, split panes, global search, Space previews, batch rename, SFTP, Git status and LocalSend sharing — all your everyday file work, in one window.

Press ⌘K to search filenames, PDF text and image OCR results globally. Recognition runs entirely on your Mac — browse photos by people, scenes, text, dates and places.
Select a file and press Space to preview images, PDFs, text, documents and media. Even folders and nested archives open in place, and Markdown can be edited with a live rendered preview.
Combine replace, regex, insert, numbering, dates and templates, and save rules as presets. Conflicts are checked before anything runs — and a finished batch can be undone.
Save SFTP connections with password or key auth and verify the server fingerprint on first connect. Edit a remote file locally and it uploads automatically. Git status shows right next to your files.
Send files and folders to LocalSend devices on your network from the context menu, and follow progress in the task panel. Nothing passes through a cloud.
Find files, inspect metadata, organize a selection, draft rename rules or convert formats in plain language. Copilot combines name, OCR, camera, place, date, people, tag, rating and property filters — and always shows you the plan before changing files or sending content to the model.
Bring your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint, model name and API key in Settings → Copilot. Usage is billed by that model provider.

You need macOS 14 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel. Download the DMG for your chip (macos for Apple Silicon, macos-intel for Intel), open it and drag Mac Explorer into Applications. The download bundles the runtime — no separate .NET installation is needed.
No. File indexes, tags, ratings, settings, image-analysis results and Copilot history are stored locally, and image recognition runs on your device. Only features you actively use go online: the optional photo place-name lookup, the AI provider you configure yourself, SFTP connections, and LocalSend transfers to devices you choose.
Enter any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, a model name and your own API key under Settings → Copilot. Model usage is billed by that provider under its own pricing — separate from a Mac Explorer subscription. Copilot always asks for approval before sending file contents or changing files.
Single Device is $7.99/month for 1 Mac; Multi-Device is $9.99/month for several Macs at once; Lifetime is a single $79.99 payment for permanent use, including future updates. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime.
